Marlen Rodriguez

As a first generation college graduate, Marlen is passionate about connecting young people to opportunities that can enhance their educational and personal journeys. The oldest of two daughters of immigrant parents, Marlen was fortunate to have been given opportunities in her youth through programs such as Upward Bound and National Hispanic Institute that helped shape her success and passion for education. Her passion for learning beyond the classroom also led her to participate in cultural exchange programs to Brazil and Spain in her undergraduate and graduate careers.
Marlen has an extensive history of work in the world of education and non-profit. From admissions counselor, to college access coach, to her current position as program enrichment coordinator, Marlen has always sought meaningful work in her community of Near Northside in Houston, TX to connect students and parents to opportunities and resources that shape individuals at a deep level.
Marlen holds a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Spanish from the University of Houston. She is currently the co-chair of Student Programs for the HACE Houston chapter and was part of the HACE Non-Profit Leadership Academy spring 2017 cohort.
