HYPB’s newest fundraising chair, Erick Alvarez, joined HACE’s Young Professional Board in April 2016 because he was interested in getting involved with an organization that provided career guidance to students and young professionals. While researching organizations in the Chicago area, he felt as though HACE was the perfect fit. Currently, he is responsible for planning/executing events as well as developing fundraising campaigns that help HYPB achieve their fundraising goals.

Growing up Erick learned about the importance of work ethic and attitude from his family, but had no exposure to adults with corporate experience. He believes that if he would have had access to professional networks it would have been a huge help in jumpstarting his career.

“HACE makes sure students and young professionals from the Latin American community have access to those vital resources. Over the last few months I’ve been exposed to some extremely successful professionals from the Latino community. I’m extremely proud to see our community flourishing and setting the bar even higher for the next generation. Being a part of this organization has been very rewarding.”

One of Erick’s hobbies is running/hiking. He uses it as an excuse to spend some time on Lakeshore Drive. He believes Chicago has some of the best city views in the country so, he tries to take advantage of the short spring and summer seasons by being active.
