Vice President – U.S. Franchising Strategy at McDonald’s USA, LLC
Alvaro Bonta is Vice President of U.S. Franchising Strategy for McDonald’s USA.  In this position, Alvaro leads the franchising strategy for over 14,000 restaurants. Alvaro and his team are responsible for developing long-term strategic franchise plans in each U.S. Market to improve the customer experience. Alvaro oversees the selection and training of new franchisees as well as sale between operator transactions and new term franchise decisions for over 1,800 franchisee organizations.

Alvaro started as crew with McDonald’s Uruguay 26 years ago. Alvaro advanced through the positions of Store Manager, Operations Supervisor, Training Consultant and the National Head of Training for McDonald’s Uruguay.  He also was a member of the McDonald’s Latin America Training Advisory Board.

Alvaro joined McDonald’s USA in 2002 as a Divisional Trainer. He then held several positions including Training Consultant for the New York Metro Region and Training Manager as part of the Restaurant Solutions Group at Hamburger University.

Alvaro relocated to the Indianapolis Region in 2009 as Field Service Manager for the Nashville market and later became the Director of Operations.

Prior to being named in his current position, Alvaro was the QSC Vice President overseeing Franchising and Operations for over 800 restaurants in the McDonald’s Greater Chicago Region.

Alvaro is passionate about talent development and diversity. Throughout his career, Alvaro has been a sponsor of the diversity networks and, currently, serves on the Board of Directors for the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE).
