Women leadership program for Latinas celebrates leaders at holiday brunch

Chicago, IL (December 6, 2016) – The Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement’s (HACE) annual Mujeres de HACE Holiday brunch invited program alumnae and interested participants to celebrate women leaders in the community and announce its partnership with event sponsor, Airbnb, to offer a full scholarship for HACE’s 2017 women leadership program in Chicago.

The event drew over 85 emerging women leaders and executives and hosted a discussion on Latinas and the economy, entrepreneurship and networking and giving back. Three Mujeres de HACE alumnae were recognized for exemplifying the Mujeres de HACE mission to grow professionally and support others to do the same. The award recipients are Lizette Arias, Senior Compliance Officer, Johnson Controls, Wendy Mann-Flores, Sr. Procurement Specialist-Team Lead Contracts, ComEd and Adriana Diaz, Communications Specialist, The Trust for Public Land.

“Adriana, Lizette, and Wendy have gone above and beyond in achieving personal success while ensuring they are actively supporting the success of others,” Patricia Mota, HACE President. “This is exactly what the HACE mission and with this award recognition, it is my hope that their stories inspire and motivate other women and youth.”

The Mujeres de HACE Women’s Leadership Program is recognized nationally for impacting Latinas in the workplace. Over 550 women have graduated from the program in 8 cities and companies across all industries are sponsoring their employees to participate.

Olga Camaro, Chair of HACE, made remarks about the importance of rising women in the corporate world by leveraging the Mujeres de HACE program. The program is not only a resource to advance our career, it also provides leadership competencies for women to become leaders at home, in the community, and to start up their own business.

Airbnb’s announcement of offering a full scholarship for a woman to participate in the program in 2017 is aligned with their mission to provide economic opportunities for individuals and promote diversity in the Airbnb hosting community.

“Like HACE, at Airbnb we’re proud to operate with a mission-driven philosophy that empowers neighborhoods and communities of color,” said Benjamin Breit, Chicago Press Secretary. “Our company aspires to a world where anyone – regardless of race, religion or heritage – can belong anywhere, and we can only get there by partnering with incredible organizations like HACE that are fostering the next generation of Latino leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.”
