Sinhue Mendoza, Former Vice President for HYPB board

“The first time I heard about HACE I was a first generation Mexican American college student at Syracuse University in upstate New York with big dreams of working in sports media. My sister sent me information on the Chicago Cubs media relations internship that she had found on a website from a Hispanic non-profit. This organization was HACE. Needless to say I did not apply for the internship as I was not yet qualified. Some years later I fulfilled a dream of mine and worked for the Chicago Cubs media relations through that very internship that had been introduced to me through HACE. As my service with the HACE Young Professionals Board comes to an end I’m proud to have been able to serve on our board for more than 4 years, completed the HACE Leadership Academy and served as the Vice Chair while our board experienced a substantial amount of growth. The leadership skills I have developed through the Young Professional’s Board and the Leadership Academy has helped me grow through different aspects of my life. Soon, I will be starting a new role in media relations at Notre Dame’s Athletic Dept. after more than four years of doing Broadcast – Media Relations at U.S. Soccer. I‘m truly thankful for organizations like HACE. Organizations like ours are vital for the continued success of Hispanics in our great country. I look forward to continuing HACE’s mission and making sure WE are all putting in our part in the successful Hispanic American Experience.”
