Prior to Assurance, Jose worked at one of the largest insurance companies in North America where he helped develop insurance programs for Fortune 50 companies with international exposures. Prior to that, he held a position at the largest insurance brokerage in the country where he serviced and managed relationships for the largest real estate and private equity companies in North America.
Jose’s career originally began in immigration law as a paralegal working for one of the top immigration attorneys in the Chicagoland area. Jose worked primarily with the Latino community to help undocumented immigrants obtain legal status in the United States. Through these efforts, he developed the language, skills and mindset to interact with a vast array of personalities and excelled in interpreting and translating legal and policy documents.

With over 14 years of experience in insurance, he works closely with clients to fully understand their specific needs and find opportunities for premium savings and risk management solutions. By taking a proactive approach to risk management, he can directly contribute to his clients’ operating results, while providing comprehensive insurance coverage. Jose’s specialty is working with Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Women Business Enterprise (WBE)and Veteran Business Enterprise (VBE)certified companies.
The first in his family to graduate from college, Jose earned his Bachelor’s degree from Cornell College majoring in Political Science and Ethnic Studies with a minor in Religion. While at Cornell he served as President of the Organization for Latino Awareness (OLA) and was voted President of Alpha Chi Epsilon. He was awarded the outstanding Freshman and Sophomore of the year from the office of Intercultural life. Jose is currently designated as a Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS), Associate in General Insurance (AINS) and Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS). Jose strongly believes in giving back to the community and serves on the board of the Norwegian American Hospital Foundation, Ensemble Español, is Vice-Chair of the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement and is actively involved with the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA) and the Residential Home Builders Alliance (RHBA).
