Josy Laza Gallagher is an organizational consultant specializing in executive development and coaching. She conducts executive assessments, climate surveys, and group facilitation with senior leadership teams, and other intact teams. She also designs and delivers customized leadership development programs for clients on topics that include diversity & inclusion, unconscious bias, gender dynamics, sexual harassment, cultural competency, managing differences, creating supportive work environments and team building.
Her passion is developing the full potential of leaders, enabling them to make a positive impact in their businesses and communities.
Josy has traveled extensively, living/working in over 20 countries. Josy is fluent in Spanish and French and is available to coach, train and facilitate in English, Spanish and French.
She participated on a Cross-Cultural Competencies in Healthcare panel at the World Diversity Leadership Summit in Vienna, Austria, presented on the future of the workplace, workforce and marketplace at the Human Capital Forum in Santiago, Chile and in Bogota, Colombia. She also has designed and delivered leadership workshops at the Ministry of Tourism in Habana, Cuba.
Josy designed and delivered webinars on workplace bullying, respect in the workplace, cross- cultural communication, conducting business in Cuba & unconscious bias. As well as designed and facilitated a Marketing to the Hispanic community session for Colgate-Palmolive in 2013, a Hispanic/Latino Leadership workshop for JP Morgan Chase during Hispanic Heritage Month in 2015 and a Developing Women Leaders at the United Nations workshop in 2016 and 2017. She facilitated post-2017 Presidential election sessions guiding participants engage in dialogue vs debate with colleagues. Josy is very proud of her Cuban ancestry and published a blog sharing her experience as a AfroLatina. Recently, Josy facilitated a series of Diversity, Inclusion & Unconscious Bias sessions in French for a client in Montreal.
She is a certified Lambent UK/ International Coaching Community (ICC) coach. In her role as an executive coach, Josy provides support and guidance to her clients helping them grow in confidence and allowing themselves to “dream big” about their lives and careers.
She values her partnership with Dr. Ella Bell Smith as a coach for the Ascent Multicultural Women Leadership Program and Dr. Bell’s leadership course at Tuck Business School Dartmouth University. As a Tuck lecturer with the 2016 Cuba Global Insight Expedition and she designed the itinerary and led the Tuck graduate students on their educational trip to Cuba.
She coached and facilitated sessions with Latino teachers and students at People of Color NAIS Annual Conferences; she worked as a mediator for Oxfam in Cuba conducting sessions on respect in the workplace & coaching staff on self-esteem issues. Josy designed and facilitated a Peer-to-Peer Coaching session at the Working Mother Multicultural Women’s Conference in New York, July 2017. She is currently coaching senior women attorneys in a major law firm and a doctor in a New York City medical facility.
Josy has worked as an internal OD senior leader at Hewlett Packard and Digital in Geneva, Switzerland and Union Carbide, Scholastic and Global One in the United States. Josy received her master’s degree in French and Spanish literature from the City University of New York, a Bachelor of Arts a New York Teacher Certification from Marymount Manhattan College and a French Certificate from L’Institut Catholique, Paris, France. She is also certified in the Myers Briggs Instrument, Rummler Brache-Work Process Analysis, Peter Block – Consulting Skills, Carlson Learning DiSC Instrument, the Blessing White – Managing Personal Growth process, the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and Triple Impact Coaching.
Josy is Afro-Cuban and is a founding member of the Career Women’s Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, and a founding member, President Emeritus and Executive board member of Madrinas, a virtual network for Corporate Latinas. She is a member of the Organizational Development Organization, Society for Human Resources Management and the International Coach Federation (ICF). Josy has two adult sons and lives in Reston, Virginia with her husband, Richard.
