NIRAJ KATARIA

CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICER

Niraj Kataria has over 30 years of experience working in Finance and with startups in all facets. For the past 2 decades he has worked in the diversity industry in publishing, online content, job boards, benchmarking, and best practices.

Kataria is the former Chairman for DiversityInc where he was responsible for starting the first print publication, developed new news and career products, and took the company from a start-up to $10 million a year in approximately 4 years.

Prior to DiversityInc, Kataria was President of IMDiversity, which also published The Black Collegian Magazine and The Black MBA magazine. Kataria raised $3 million of VC funds for the company, built a workforce from 13 to 65 people in New Orleans, and created one of the first websites to target diversity recruiting.

Kataria has also worked as head of diversity at Adicio and JobTarget (now YourMembership). In these roles he was responsible for helping employers with the hiring of Women, Diversity, Veterans, and Disability candidates.

He spent the first 15 years of his career in Finance positions at various companies, including Dun & Bradstreet, United Technologies, Gartner Group, and Moldflow. At Gartner Group Kataria worked in the finance department at the time of its IPO in 1992. At Moldflow, he was the Controller as the company prepared for an IPO from Australia to be listed on NASDAQ. With the two IPO experiences and the dot com era in its infancy stages, he moved to New Orleans to set up MDiversity.com, a successful publishing dot com and the first diversity job board in the US.

Kataria has spoken in various Diversity events throughout the country. He has been in various diversity panels discussing the best practices in diversity hiring, supplier diversity, and communication. Kataria holds an MBA from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.
